Desktop App

Desktop App

The AtomC desktop app provides a native experience on macOS, Windows, and Linux.

Installation

macOS

Mac App Store (Recommended)

Search for "AtomC" in the Mac App Store, or use this direct link. The App Store handles updates automatically.

Direct Download

Download the .dmg file from atomc.ai. Open the disk image and drag AtomC to your Applications folder.

Windows

Download the installer from atomc.ai. Run the .exe file and follow the installation prompts. AtomC will be available in your Start Menu.

Linux

Two package formats are available:

  • AppImage — Download and make executable with chmod +x AtomC-*.AppImage, then run
  • Debian (.deb) — Install with sudo dpkg -i atomc-*.deb

Both are available from atomc.ai.

Interface

The desktop app mirrors the web app's two-panel layout with some native enhancements:

  • System-native window controls — Minimize, maximize, and close buttons match your OS
  • Keyboard shortcuts — Full keyboard navigation (see Keyboard Shortcuts)
  • Notifications — System notifications for important updates
  • Menu bar integration — Quick access from the system tray/menu bar
  • File attachments — Drag & drop files into the chat, click the attach button, or paste images directly from your clipboard
  • Agent system — @mention specialized agents, run team pipelines, and approve checkpoints from the live status panel (see Features)

Settings

Open the Settings panel from the menu bar or with Cmd/Ctrl + ,. The Settings panel has two tabs:

  • General — Configure stream response timeout, bash command timeout, and web search timeout
  • MCP Servers — Add, connect, disconnect, and manage MCP servers (see below)

MCP Server Integration

AtomC supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP) for connecting external tools and data sources. You can add and manage MCP servers from the Settings panel. Connected servers extend what AtomC can do — from querying databases to interacting with third-party services — all within your chat.

Signing In

Launch AtomC and sign in with your COALS account credentials. Your conversations will sync automatically from all other devices.

Updating

  • Mac App Store: Updates are automatic
  • Direct downloads: AtomC checks for updates on launch and prompts you when a new version is available. A progress window shows download speed and percentage. You can choose to restart immediately or later — updates install automatically on quit.
